Exporting Report Data into Excel

I cannot export my report data in either an .xls format or .csv format. How do I fix this problem?
- If you are running your reports from within Internet Explorer (IE) and cannot export your report data in either Excel (.xls) or Comma Separated Values (.csv) formats, the problem is with Internet Explorer. Actually, there are three (3) potential issues. Any combination or all three may be the culprit. How many of these changes you will have to make depends on how your browser options are configured before you begin this process. We single out Internet Explorer as the source of your difficulty because Cognos ReportNet will operate in alternative browsers, e.g., Mozilla's Firefox, where these issues do not exist.
- What are the three issues? The functionality you need to export report results is disabled by default in your Internet Explorer (IE) options. To be able to export your reports to Excel, you must "Turn Off Pop-up Blocker (for ReportNet)," change the default setting for "Automatic Prompting for the file downloads" to ENABLE, then, in most cases, you will need to acknowledge ReportNet as a "Trusted Site."
- Note: Whether exporting your reports in either .xls or .csv formats, the difficulties probably persist. Why? Because ReportNet's default application for opening either file type is Excel. If you want to export .csv files, you'll have to change these options, also.

- These changes do not need to be done in any particular order. If you find that one of the default options has been changed, just verify the accuracy of the change and move on to the next procedure.
